Wharariki Beach
About
Isolated and Beautiful. Sculptured cliffs, arched rocks, and beautiful sand hills. The one of most beautiful, wild and rugged place on earth!
Cancel any upcoming appointments, because there’s a treasure trove of nature to explore here – with dramatic cliffs and rock formations, and fascinating wildlife that calls this place home.
After parking the car, there’s a 20-30-minute walk through farmland and forest until you hit the beach.
And then it’s game on for things to see and do.
Sweeping winds have created a dramatic landscape of imposing cliffs, towering arches, caves, rock bridges, sand dunes, and islands.
And keep an eye out for seals in the rock pools – just keep your distance from them!
Note, the track can be closed during lambing season.
Better to be explored in a low tide. Sunset and low tide is the best combination to get some stunning photos!
