Rarawa Beach

On your way or way back to Cape Reinga you can find this unspoilt beautiful beach - a paradise with a white sands and breathtakingly blue water. The beach is great for walking, spotting some birds (please don’t disturb them, especially in nesting season), fishing and swimming. At low tide you might find yourself in a rock pool sharing it with some sea stars and crabs :-).

Most of the time, the beach is very quiet with barely anyone, however during Christmas and New Year the place could be quite busy.

To get there, turn East from SH1 as you see the sign “Rarawa Beach and follow it down about 4km on a gravel road. There is a parking area right beside the beach and a good DoC campsite situated just behind the beach.
